The second of historic blend Black Bottle's 2021 Alchemy editions is Black Bottle Alchemy Series Batch #2 Island Smoke, and it really sounds like a winner.

Over 20 different single malt components went into Black Bottle Island Smoke, and this is the more traditional of the two Alchemy Series bottlings, based around a 1984 blended malt and with a generous serving of peated whisky. At 46.3% Black Bottle Island Smoke looks like a great value drop.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Golden vanilla.

Nose: Surging spices, island peat and maritime medicinal notes.

Palate: A union of earth and ocean; black pepper and sea salt collide with sweet cereal, vanilla and cardamom.

Finish: Long and warming waves of oak spice and a hint of dry sea salt.
