Bathtub Gin

Gin
70cl / 43.3%

Ableforth's Bathtub Gin, formerly known as Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub Gin, is a curious throwback to the days when compounded gins were made in bathtubs by steeping flavourings in very low quality raw spirit to take the edge off the roughness, and were diluted by turning on the tap.

Of course, in Tunbridge Wells things are done a little differently, with the rechristened Ableforth's maestros Atom Brands using a high quality pot-distilled gin steeped with fresh botanicals including cloves, cardamom and orange peel. They probably don't use an actual bathtub for the steeping either. We hope.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestion

Nose: Fresh and bold juniper leads the way with fragrant citrus and cardamom. Notes of fresh orange peel and cinnamon add to an enticing nose.
Taste: Juniper again leads, but there’s plenty more besides. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy whilst the cloves, coriander and cardamom offer depth.
Finish: Here the supporting botanicals really shine with lingering cardamom and orange peel on the tail.

Bathtub Gin tastes great with premium tonic and a wedge of orange.
