Bottled without colouring or chill filtration, this 20-year-old Allt-A-Bhainne 2005 came from single cask 805184 and was finished in a Recioto Della Valpolicella Italian red wine cask that turned out 324 bottles at a huge natural cask strength of 59.1%. Allt-A-Bhainne is one of Pernod / Chivas Brothers' workhorse Speyside distilleries, whose day job is making single malt for the 100 Pipers blended whisky and other Chivas blends; indie bottlings of the distillery's whisky are neither uncommon nor abundant, and are almost always decent drams and very good value for money.
